Research

Che Fai’s main research interest is using technology to help less fortunate people. His current research is designing and developing a simple yet effective robotic device to help stroke patient in rehabilitation. He has developed a robot named ReachMAN, a compact portable 3 degree-of-freedom robot to train reaching, pronosupination and grasping, independently or combination. A pilot study with three subacute patients at National Hospital Neurology and Neurosurgey (NHNN) in London has shown promising results. His other interests besides rehabilitation robotics are mobile robot, automated-guided-vehicle, assistive device, humoanoid robot, and search-and-rescue robot. Che Fai is also one of the founder of a spin-off company DF Automation and Robotics Sdn Bhd (

) to design and develop robots and automation for industrial use.
